SMALL GROUPS

Small groups are about gathering with others for encouragement as you grow in your relationship with Christ.  It's a safe place to ask questions, build friendships, experience mutual care and support, use your spiritual gifts, and influence the world around you!

Zion is becoming a "church of small groups" -- meaning that most ministry happens through the vehicle of small groups.  This is so every person can have the opportunity to be cared for as they become a growing disciple.  There are many types of groups which offer a place for developing friendships and faith!  Most are ongoing groups -- although there are also short-term opportunities.

Nearly 700 people, from 3 year olds to Seniors, are meeting regularly in Zion's small groups. Currently there are over 40 adult (We Care) groups to choose from, and there are new groups starting all the time.

What does a small group look like?

A small group is an intentional gathering of up to 10 people who come together in biblical community on a regular basis (at least twice a month) with the common purpose of growing in Christ.  This is accomplished through:

Christian Fellowship

Bible Study

Prayer

Service

A Healthy Small Group Includes These 4 Focuses:

UPWARD: [God] Knowing God through prayer, worship, and studying His Word.

INWARD: [One-another] Knowing each other through fellowship and caring for one another.

OUTWARD: [Others] Reaching out to those who don’t know Jesus and to other believers through small group outreach and service.

FORWARD: [Multiplication] Raising up new leaders through training and discipleship so that new groups may be formed.

Types of Small Groups at Zion:

  • Ministry/Serving Teams: These groups have an emphasis on service -- performing an administrative or serving role in the function of the church. (ex: Congregational Council, Worship Teams)
  • Children & Youth Small Groups: PrimeTime (pre-K through 6th graders), Surge (7/8 grade confirmation groups), Student Impact (High School Groups)
  • Christ-Life Solution: This is a 3 phase small group healing/discipleship program designed to help you begin to renew your mind and embrace the lifechange that God has planned for you. Click here for more information.
  • "We Care" Small Groups:  Adult and family groups.  These groups may center on such things as an activity or hobby, discipleship, life situation, stage of life, or a SUPPORT need.  Most groups meet in members' homes, while some meet at the church.
