What We Believe
Welcome to Zion where our vision is to bring every lost person into a biblical community of devoted followers of Jesus. We are attempting to build a community like that of the early church---a community loyal to Jesus and committed to advancing the kingdom. We are convinced that the normal Christian life is lived out in community at both the celebration level and the small group level. The celebration level of life involves large events of worship, praise, and celebration that inspire, motivate, and fill us with awe and wonder. The small group level is where we find the intimacy in relationships that we all crave. It is the small group level that provides the best environment for individual spiritual growth, where we are cared for, and where we are held accountable. As a community we have dedicated ourselves to work hard and sacrifice for the sake of sharing Christ with those who do not yet know him. We strive to be a community that is different from the rest of the world --- different because we see and value ourselves and all people like God sees and values people. Our goal is to be loyal to Christ and loyal to each other, serving in interdependent relationships so that no one is ever left behind. We take responsibility as a community for our mutual Christian care. We believe that it is precisely in serving that we are served. We each seek to use the spiritual gifts God has granted to us for building up the body of Christ. We believe that this is the community Christ intended for his church, a community so knit together in love and service that everyone finds a place. We are eager to share this community with all people. As Pastors we have been called to provide vision, leadership, inspiration, and Biblical teaching for this community. We have dedicated our lives to this mission for the sake of the Church and to the glory of God. Rev. Dean C. Hess & Rev. Derik C. Yarian |
