Pastor Dean's Blog
The GPS instruments available today are quite amazing. They will take you from an address here in Clear Lake all the way across the United State to an address say in Miami. The devices will coach you exactly when to turn on what street or highway and how far to go till the next turn. Most will give you the estimated time of arrival and distance covered and how far you have left to go both in miles and in hours or minutes. They can plot your speed and your progress along a map. Some have indexes of places to eat, special sites, shopping, and recreational facilities. They are of special value when you are in a strange or new city. They can get you to your destination safely and quickly. It is a Godsend for people who are lost or directionally challenged.

The Bible is a kind of GPS (God's Positioning System) instrument. It too can give us a fix on where we are at in life, and tell us the right turns to make to keep us on course. The Bible does not map out the whole route for us like the GPS in your car. Instead the Bible gives us a general map that reveals "the lay of the land" and our place. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us the more specific instructions on when to go forward or when to turn. The Bible is also a Godsend for those who have lost their way and have no moral compass to follow.

Zion Vision
We have been talking about resources and how the Church like nearly every other organization struggles to find resources and to use them as wisely and well as possible. I have served on the Board of several different non-profit organizations. They all struggle to carry out their mission with limited resources. Similarly in the Church there is always something more or further that we wish we could do if the resources were available.

Zion partners are exceptionally generous and this is one of the reasons why we have been able to accomplish so much. The last few years as we have been developing the Intersection Zion partners have risen to that challenge and provided the means to step out in this bold new ministry. Of course we have been scrupulously careful to use the resources they provide to maximum benefit.
