Divorce Care

Divorce Care creates an opportunity for healing for those who have experienced the trauma of divorce.  The weekly meetings are held in a small group setting and are designed to help individuals cope with their current issues of divorce.  The general format includes a video followed by discussion.  All information shared is held in confidence.

Meetings are held each Sunday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the lounge of The Intersection, (corner of 1st Ave. N. and 5th St. in Clear Lake) and continue throughout the academic year.  New members may enter the group at any time during the year. Join us at 9:30 on Sunday, September 20th for a get-acquainted  social.  Regular sessions will begin the following Sunday, September 27th. Please use the door on the North side of the building.

For more information contact Gaye Scott at Zion Lutheran Church 112 N. 4th Street Clear Lake or call her at 357-5261.

Testimonies

“One of the hardest things for me was to make the call to find out more about the group. It’s like you are admitting to a complete stranger that you are a failure…when in all actuality you aren’t. Taking that step was THE BEST way for me to realize a couple of things. First, I wasn’t alone and secondly, there are people out there who want to hear your story, help you through the pain of the process and continue to be there for you long afterwards. This group of friends will always have a special place in my heart.”       - Woman

“Divorce Care has been a great small group for me during this time of my life. I have grown so much spiritually and have met many great friends. Every one of us has a different situation, but I have learned that what ever it is that we have been dealt with God is always there to lend a helping hand to get us through this seemingly low point in our life.”    - Woman

“I have been divorced for some time when I first entered Divorce Care Group. Though my marriage had been resolved several years before, I still had a lot of unanswered questions and issues. I discovered that Biblically based Divorce Care material and other members of the group helped me deal with a lot of the emotional turmoil that still haunted me. Because fellow members have suffered a similar plight I have found they can be very insightful, and emotionally supportive. The group has brought a lot of healing into my life.”   -Man

“When I found out that I would be going through a divorce, I was sad, lonely, stressed, and depressed. Yes the bottom was surely falling out. Then I found Divorce Care…ah…I soon found out that I was not alone; these feelings were normal. Divorce Care helped me connect with God and friends to get through a really hard time in my life. I don’t know where I would be today without it.”    - Woman

“How Divorce Care has helped me through some tough times: Knowing that others are going through the same emotions and trials as myself. Having a friend to talk with and lean on. Having friends praying for me and pointing out verses in the Bible that comfort me. Just knowing that I am not alone.”    - Man
